A man armed with a knife attacked people on a bus in the northern city of Luebeck on Friday, injuring 10 including one seriously before he was arrested, police said, adding there was no indication he was radicalized or had a terrorist motive. "The identity of the perpetrator has been clarified: a 34-year-old German citizen resident in Luebeck," police added on Twitter. The local Luebecker Nachrichten, without citing its source, said the attacker was originally from Iran who now had German nationality and had lived in Luebeck for years.

Two children have been bitten while swimming in waters off New York state's Fire Island in what are thought to be the state’s first shark attacks for 70 years. A 12-year-old girl suffered bite marks “consistent with a large fish” while swimming at Sailors Haven beach and a 13-year-old boy on a bodyboard was taken to taken to hospital following an incident at nearby Atlantique beach, 50 miles east of Manhattan. Paramedics removed a large tooth from the leg of the injured boy, which authorities are waiting for the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation to identify.

A Brazilian celebrity butt-enhancement surgeon known as Dr. Bumbum was arrested Thursday over the death of a patient in a botched operation after spending four days on the run. Denis Furtado, who calls himself Dr. Bumbum on social media, was arrested in an office building thanks to a tip from an anonymous telephone caller, police said. Furtado was considered capable of performing magic on women's bodies, in particular their bottoms, and became known throughout the country for his expertise.
Chance the Rapper has entered the news business by buying the Chicagoist website -- and announced the purchase through song Thursday. Chicagoist was part of a network of city-oriented websites including New York's Gothamist that found a following amid an appetite for a fresher, younger take on local news in the United States. The sites were abruptly closed last year by publisher Joe Ricketts, a conservative mogul who also owns the Chicago Cubs baseball team, after staff voted to unionize.
