Syrian Kurdish leader condemns Russia for Turkey 'green light' in Afrin

Syrian Kurdish leader condemns Russia for Turkey 'green light' in AfrinA prominent Syrian Kurdish leader on Thursday criticised Russia for giving a "green light" to Turkey to carry out an offensive in Syria's Afrin region, saying it wouldn't have happened without Moscow's approval. Turkish troops and allied Syrian forces seized control of the northwestern city of Afrin from the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) militia on Sunday. In an interview with AFP during a visit to Stockholm, Saleh Muslim, the former co-chair of the main Syrian Kurdish political movement, the Democratic Union Party (PYD) said Turkey wouldn't have succeeded without Russian backing.
