Congressman John Lewis of Georgia, a Democrat, will become the first black lawmaker to lie in state in the United States Capitol Rotunda, one of the highest honours offered to American citizens.The civil rights icon will lie in state at the Capitol building in Washington DC on Monday with an invitation-only arrival ceremony starting at 1.30pm EST, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced last week.
